	WP Trax Shock 2007-2012 KTM SX, XC & EXC also Husaberg & recent Japanese Models The WP Trax shock is the result of several years development by WP in GP MX and World Enduro, WP Trax is the ultimate shock for off-road racing, an exact copy of what the Factory Teams are using. The Trax system allows for fast rebound when there is no load on the shock due to a drop out mechanism in its base , so when the wheel lifts off the ground a rebound circuit opens and the shock can recover to full extension in a fraction of a second, the shock is then ready to absorb the next bump with full travel, only WP has this technology on a Motorcycle Shock. This system gives much better traction than a conventional shock, it stops the packing affect of a stock shock, basically you get the best of both worlds, good level of rebound to keep control when the wheels on the ground , but fast rebound and recovery when the wheel leave's the ground to prevent shock "Packing" and get the wheel back on the floor as quickly as possible in order to accelerate again and expect the next bump. How its works:- In the base of the shock above the clevis and before the spring holder there is a small mechanism which is preloaded by small springs which basically moves between 1 and 2mm to when there is no load on the shock, this open's and close's a rebound oil circuit via a needle valve, when there is pressure on the shock the mechanism is forced up which closes the rebound oil circuit and it operates as a normal shock, when weight is taken off the shock the small springs push out the clevis and this opens an oil circuit giving ultra fast rebound. A very simple idea but not simple to Engineer, this technology is also used in Rally Cars. Not only does the Trax shock benefit from the fast rebound system it's also manufactured to better tolerances than a stock shock using higher quality materials, the main shock body is manufactured from steel to give consistent damping when hot and improved durability. For bikes fitted with PDS system ie Husaberg and KTM EXC's the internal design is far different from the stock PDS shock, the Trax shock has far more progressive damping and better bottoming resistance without having mid stroke harshness, massive improvement over stock on square edged bumps. Unlike stock shocks the rebound damping adjustment has no effect on the compression damping due to a one way valve and there is high and low speed compression adjustment. Anyone who thinks a linkage is better than PDS should try this system, they will change their opinion quite quickly, but this system also benefits bikes fitted with a linkage. Trax shocks should only be serviced by trained and experienced WP technicians, they require specialist knolwledge and tools. We recommend service every 30 hours.
